Tesla has recently released the FSD Beta 11.3 update for their Full Self-Driving (FSD) software

The release notes for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Beta Version 11.3 have been leaked, showcasing significant changes and new features.

FSD builds on Autopilot, Tesla’s active driving assistant, and is available for purchase as a one-time fee of $15,000 or a monthly fee of $199. Tesla has confirmed that FSD is available in roughly 400,000 Tesla electric vehicles. However, the reliability of the technology has been a subject of controversy. Despite this, Tesla has removed the safety score requirement, allowing almost any Tesla owner to sign up for the FSD Beta program. In January, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that V11.3 would be released widely and would include several new features and improvements. @WholeMarsBlog, an FSD Beta tester, shared the release notes, which include Enabled FSD Beta on the highway, voice notes, expanded automatic emergency braking (AEB), improved autopilot reaction time, and more. The beta release of V11.3 is currently limited to employees who also serve as beta testers.

The top item on the release notes for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Beta Version 11.3 is the enabling of FSD Beta on highways, which should provide better performance than the standard Autopilot. FSD Beta was previously only allowed on city roads, but the system’s multi-camera video networks and next-generation planner should now provide enhanced decision-making capabilities and improved control. The updated FSD also introduces a voice note feature that allows drivers to provide feedback on their Autopilot experience and offer suggestions for improvements.

Another update to FSD Beta expands the capabilities of automatic emergency braking (AEB), allowing it to handle situations where other vehicles run a red light or fail to yield the right-of-way. However, this feature raises concerns about Tesla’s previous issue with phantom braking, which was reportedly responsible for an eight-car accident in November 2021. V11.3 also enhances the lane change feature, with improved detection and smoother handling for concurrent lane switching.

The new release oversamples 180,000 challenging videos, including those with road debris, rain reflections, and high curvature, to improve the occupancy detection system. FSD Beta also receives superior handling for high-speed and high-curvature situations, improved detection of rare objects, and reduced depth error when encountering large trucks and school buses.

At present, the latest FSD Beta upgrade is only available to Tesla’s employees, but it is expected to be widely released in the near future. Despite the upcoming improvements that aim to enhance the current capabilities of FSD Beta, users should not fully rely on the system to make dynamic decisions with complete accuracy. As a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving assistance system, Tesla EV owners must continuously monitor the road and be prepared to intervene if necessary.
