What the Official Images of the OnePlus 11 Concept Reveal

A few weeks after the global launch of the OnePlus 11, OnePlus has unveiled a new version of the phone known as the OnePlus 11 Concept.

The OnePlus 11 is an upgrade from the previous year’s OnePlus 10 Pro, and was first announced in China last month before being released globally to a largely favorable reception from both the media and consumers. It is anticipated to compete with other mainstream devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 7, and iPhone 14.

The OnePlus 11 Concept features a unibody glass design and LED lighting, giving it a distinct appearance from the standard model. The phone boasts a “flowing back” design, with a blue LED lighting pattern extending across the entirety of its back and a blue LED ring encircling the camera module. According to OnePlus, the LED design is intended to emulate blood vessels in the human body.

The OnePlus 11 Concept will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress on February 27th. Although the company has not confirmed whether it is merely a concept design, it is expected to be sold as a limited edition release, at least in certain markets. The LED-infused design could entice some OnePlus fans to pay a premium over the regular model if it becomes available for purchase.

The exact appearance of the OnePlus 11 Concept and how it will manifest in reality remains unknown. However, it will likely be similar to the current model, based on the preliminary teasers. It will also draw parallels to the Nothing Phone (1), which has a transparent light-up back and is the first mainstream smartphone with this design. There is no information on whether the lighting on the OnePlus 11 Concept will be functional, as in the Nothing Phone (1), but most prospective buyers are likely hoping for a comparable feature.

In terms of internal hardware, OnePlus has not disclosed any differences for the new device compared to the standard model, and it is unlikely to have any. Therefore, it may have the same processor, display, cameras, and cooling system as the regular model, although its RAM and storage capacity could match or exceed the higher-end variant of the OnePlus 11.

OnePlus has a history of producing concept phones and special editions. Several years ago, the company unveiled the OnePlus Concept One smartphone, which featured a layer of electrochromic glass on the back that could transition between opaque and transparent by applying an electric charge, allowing users to conceal or reveal its rear cameras. Although the device never reached retail shelves, it will be intriguing to discover if the OnePlus 11 Concept will eventually be available for purchase.
