The core lineup of playable characters in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a major draw for the game, with each character offering a balanced experience compared to the others. However, some mechanics and abilities may be more enjoyable than others, creating an uneven playing field. While there is no wrong choice of character to play, those undecided on which member of the squad to choose can consider some basic differences.
At launch, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League features four playable characters: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. These characters have strong ties to the Suicide Squad, making them logical choices for Amanda Waller’s anti-hero team. With a focus on customizable builds, players can tailor each character to their preferences with upgrades and equipment. More playable characters are set to join the game, with a new version of the Joker confirmed to arrive in March 2024.
Deadshot is an expert sharpshooter with exceptional accuracy
Deadshot, a skilled marksman with a rich history in Batman stories, is heavily reliant on guns in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. His proficiency in long-range combat is complemented by a jetpack that allows him to stay above the fray when necessary. As such, Deadshot is the go-to character for players who prefer ranged combat and precision sharpshooting. Even his melee attacks involve the use of wrist cannons to take down enemies at close range.
Deadshot’s upgrades are geared towards increasing his critical hits, which aligns with his role as a devastating marksman. His Suicide Strike ability deals significant damage to a single target while also making nearby enemies more vulnerable to critical hits. However, Deadshot’s effectiveness in the game largely depends on a player’s proficiency with pistols, assault rifles, and sniper rifles. While he can be a formidable force in the right hands, he may lack the versatility of other characters.
King Shark serves as the tank for the Suicide Squad in KTJL
King Shark’s muscular physique makes him the perfect tank for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and fans of characters like the Heavy in Team Fortress 2 will quickly grasp his basic concept. He wields a massive minigun as his signature weapon, but can also use assault rifles and shotguns for a variety of firepower. His melee skills focus on a range of blades, but he doesn’t rely on his shark teeth as weapons.
While giving King Shark a minigun is not a typical feature in DC canon, it seems to be a concession to the game’s emphasis on gunplay rather than a true representation of his character. However, his movement feels authentic, relying solely on his strength to give him incredible leaping abilities. Although he could be more unique, King Shark’s toughness and versatility make him an easy choice for players to pick up and use in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Captain Boomerang has the ability to surprise and defeat his enemies with his boomerangs
The Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League accurately portrays Captain Boomerang’s most distinctive trait – his frequent utilization of boomerangs. These weapons serve as his primary close-range attack, enabling him to strike foes with projectiles that rapidly return to his grasp. In terms of firearms, he can wield sniper rifles, SMGs, and shotguns, emphasizing an aggressive spray-and-pray approach that also permits him to occasionally strategize from a distance.
Boomerangs are integral to his movement technology, which utilizes a gauntlet that emulates the Flash’s Speed Force capabilities. This allows him to swiftly teleport to thrown boomerangs and navigate gaps between buildings, similar to the Warp maneuver in Final Fantasy 15, rather than typical video game teleportation methods. In intense combat situations, he can execute rapid teleport dashes to gain an advantage. Boomerang’s combat techniques offer a plethora of intriguing combinations to experiment with, making him a compelling choice for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Harley Quinn adds an element of dynamic melee combat to the game
For those familiar with the Batman: Arkham games from Rocksteady Studios, playing as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will feel like second nature. She borrows some of Batman’s tools, such as his grappling gun and Bat Drone tech, to ensure her mobility and launch midair grapple points. While she can use guns like the other members of the Suicide Squad, her signature weapon is her baseball bat, which she can use at close range by grappling in and swinging.
Harley’s unique maneuverability allows her to consistently travel without touching the ground, making her movement tech the most rewarding in the game. Her kit also includes grenade damage, which can be upgraded through her skill trees. With her memorable personality, excellent damage output at range and up close, and superior mobility, Harley Quinn may just be the best playable character in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
